Experimenting with Papier-maché
Currently I’m experimenting with papier-maché. Actually it’s not that easy to find the right recipe and also the right paper. Either the paste gets too sticky or too watery or too chunky. These three different recipes I found helpful:
- Paper Mache Clay Recipe by Ultimate Paper Mache
- Papier Mache Paste and Clay by Scott A. Stoll
- Papier Mache by Hilary Bravo
As far as I am concerned I use recycling paper only and I didn’t use joint compound so far, because I still have plaster at home. However I am not satisfied yet.
And then there is also surface design. I tried both painting the beads using acrylic paint and covering them with (recycled) aluminum foil before varnishing. Unfortunately the bangle broke. I keep on experimenting …
